What's New on Koto ?,Tests and Videos | BYD Dolphin : The electric car bringing fresh energy to Rwanda
The future of mobility is no longer a distant dream, it’s already here. Rwanda, a nation taking bold steps in green energy and innovation, is now welcoming vehicles that combine sustainability with everyday practicality. Among these new arrivals, the BYD Dolphin stands out. Compact yet stylish, modern yet accessible, it offers drivers in Kigali and beyond the chance to enjoy electric mobility without compromise. With its ocean-inspired design, advanced features, and spacious interior, the Dolphin represents more than just a car it’s a lifestyle shift toward clean and intelligent driving.
Versatility that fits Rwandan roads
In Rwanda, driving conditions can vary widely, from smooth highways stretching from Kigali to Musanze, to the tighter urban streets where agility is essential. The BYD Dolphin is designed to adapt to these different scenarios with ease.
Its mid-sized footprint makes it perfect for maneuvering in city traffic or finding parking in busy neighborhoods, while its long wheelbase provides the stability needed for longer journeys upcountry.
[gallery link="file" columns="2" size="full" ids="12940,12938,12570,12568"]
Electric power is another key advantage. The Dolphin is built on BYD’s latest e-Platform 3.0, which focuses on efficiency, safety, and intelligence. This means smooth acceleration, reliable performance, and strong range, ideal for both daily commutes and weekend getaways.
Its versatility extends beyond driving ; the Dolphin’s design, with short overhangs and optimized space inside, ensures that the compact body never feels restrictive. Whether you’re a professional commuting daily in Kigali or a family heading to Gisenyi, the Dolphin adapts effortlessly to your lifestyle.

Modular design and smart space management
One of the most surprising aspects of the BYD Dolphin is how well it manages space. At first glance, it looks like a mid-sized car, but step inside and you immediately notice the thoughtful interior layout. Thanks to the clever design of the e-Platform 3.0, the cabin feels open, airy, and functional. The rear compartment has a flat floor, a feature that adds comfort for middle-seat passengers who often get the least space in traditional vehicles.
The Dolphin is also full of details that show smart modular thinking. The dashboard is anchored by a 12.5-inch rotating touchscreen, which can be adjusted to suit your needs, whether you’re checking navigation, playing music, or managing voice commands. This rotating design frees up how you use the screen, making it intuitive for different driving situations.

Storage compartments are also well thought out, giving passengers the flexibility to carry everything from groceries to travel bags without feeling cramped.
Even the railing designed like a dolphin’s fin adds a touch of practical creativity, it serves as an armrest while also reminding passengers of the car’s unique identity. The modular approach here isn’t about gimmicks, but about creating a space that can easily shift between everyday tasks and longer journeys.

Comfort and Features for everyday life
Driving the Dolphin is not just about moving from one point to another; it’s about enjoying the journey. Comfort plays a big role here. The seats are made of sustainable vegan leather, a choice that aligns with eco-friendly values without compromising style. They also feature ventilation holes, keeping passengers comfortable during longer trips or hot afternoons.
Technology is another highlight. The car’s large rotating screen acts as a connected hub, integrating entertainment, navigation, and intelligent voice control. This ensures drivers can stay focused on the road while still enjoying access to digital features.
[gallery link="file" columns="2" size="full" ids="16113,16112,16111,16110"]
The LED lighting design from the front strip across the grille to the geometric taillights inspired by dolphins in motion – not only enhances visibility but also gives the car a futuristic character.
Rear passengers are not forgotten either. The generous legroom and flat floor design make longer journeys more pleasant. With Rwanda’s growing interest in sustainable tourism, this makes the Dolphin an excellent option for eco-conscious travelers who want to explore the country in comfort.
